Art competitions aren’t new in the Western Downs Region. In fact, the art group in Dalby conducted an art prize from 1964 until 1979.
The Western Downs Art competition didn’t come into being until 2013 when the art galleries in the western downs region joined forces to host the competition.
The competition is open to all residents living or working in the western regional council’s boundaries (a land area the size of Switzerland). The competition is held annually and the hosting of the competition and associated art exhibition is rotated around the art galleries in the region.
