It’s Still Life
An exploration of constraint, through a digital medium
Dalby, QLD: Local artist Barry Johansen is about to launch his solo exhibition at Gallery 107 @ Dalby. It’s Still Life explores the concept of constraint and our aversion to change, but what makes the works unique is that they have been created on an iPad.
“British artist David Hockney, to me was the trailblazer when he enthusiastically embraced the iPad and thus broke ranks with the established art forms” Barry says. And he knows he can follow this path in confidence, even though it’s still controversial in the art world today.
Through the exhibition Barry will be presenting artist talks on Thursday mornings from 11:00 am until 12:00pm. A two day workshop will be held on the 18th and 19th of March for those artist who are interested in using their tablets to express their own creativity.
It’s Still life opens on Wednesday March 1st at Gallery 107 @ Dalby and runs through until April 8th. The official opening will be held on Saturday evening, March 4th at 6:00pm.
